Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Joseph Gamba

Born in St. Andrew’s, Scotland, Dr. Gamba graduated from Scotland’s University of Dundee, School of Dentistry with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1987. Dr. Gamba began work on the Burin Peninsula in 1988 and continues to provide service to the Grand Bank area on a part-time basis, though he has practiced in St. John’s since 2000, when he joined forces with Dr. Bourgeois.

Sports have always played a large part in Dr. Gamba’s life. Anything with a ball was fair game while growing up in Scotland, and he has competed heavily in rugby, tennis, squash, soccer and golf. With four sons all heavily involved in soccer and hockey, Dr. Gamba has since transferred his energy into coaching and family transportation! Dr. Gamba also enjoys cooking and reading for relaxation when not at the rink or work.

Dr. Maureen Bourgeois

A proud Newfoundlander, Dr. Maureen Bourgeois was born and raised in Kippens, Bay St. George. She attended Memorial University of Newfoundland and later Dalhousie University in Halifax, where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1987. After graduation she returned to Newfoundland and has been practicing in St. John’s ever since.

When not practicing dentistry or working as a consultant for the National Dental Examining Board of Canada, Dr. Bourgeois enjoys a variety of activities, including kayaking, skiing and gardening. She and her husband live in St. Philips. They have 3 sons.

Dr. Kelly Drover

Dr. Kelly Drover, BSc., Dip DH, DDS graduated from Acadia University with a BSc in 1995, followed by a diploma in Dental Hygiene from Dalhousie University in 2001. After practicing as a dental hygienist for two years, Dr. Drover decided to fulfill her desire to become a dentist and graduated with her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2006 picking up accolades such as the JD Maclean Scholarship, the Oral Surgery Bursary and the award for Greatest Proficiency in Pediatric Dentistry along the way. Dr. Drover was also the first place recipient of the Dalhousie Table Clinic Research Award and competed on a national level.


Originally from Lewisporte, Newfoundland, Dr. Drover began her dental career in Nova Scotia. In 2010, however, she returned to Newfoundland to join Stavanger Dental and thoroughly enjoys the personal feel of a family practice.


As a mother of three children, much of Dr. Drover’s time is spent supporting her children and their wide array of interests. Passionate about running and exercising, Dr. Drover continues to challenge herself by running the Tely 10 each year, and is always up for a great concert or musical!.


Dr. Michelle Bennett

Dr. Michelle Bennett was born and raised in Bishop’s Falls, NL. Upon her 2012 graduation from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, NS with a Bachelor of Science degree, Dr. Bennett went on to attend Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS. At Dalhousie Dr. Bennett earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2016 and was awarded the Dr. William W. Woodbury Memorial Prize for exceptional ability in orthodontics. Dr. Bennett is thrilled to be returning to her home province of Newfoundland and looks forward to providing compassionate dental care to Stavanger's new and existing patients.


Dr. Bennett has many interests outside of dentistry, including snowboarding, reading, and archery. She is also a licensed glider instructor and pilot – a passion she developed during her years in the Royal Canadian Air Cadet program.


Dr. Bennett and her husband enjoy travelling and are always planning their next adventure.

Meet Our Team

Anne Marie Carroll
Office Manager

Anne Marie Carroll is our Practice Manager at Stavanger Dental and has been with the clinic since 2011. With over thirty years as a business professional who excels in administrative leadership in a management capacity, Anne Marie continues her professional education and development by attending dental, leadership and management courses while simultaneously managing the day to day and business requirements of our bustling Stavanger Dental clinic.

Anne Marie is currently a member of the Dental Office Manager’s Study Club NL. She enjoys spending time with her husband Andrés, with her family and her friends. Anne Marie’s hobbies and interests include travel, singing, listening to music, hiking, reading and cooking.

Lisa Kavanagh

Lisa joined the Stavanger Dental team in 2016 bringing 18 years of dental assisting experience with her. As an honours graduate from the Level II Dental Assisting program at Keyin College, Lisa quickly found her passion assisting in Orthodontic dentistry, and set about acquiring her Orthodontic module and accreditation from Holland College in PEI shortly thereafter. Though Lisa assists the doctors at Stavanger with their wide range of dental procedures, Lisa still maintains her passion for orthodontic treatment.

Lisa grew up in the small community of North River, an hour outside St John’s, and loves spending time with her family—and driving!

Kylie Pelley
Dental Assistant

Kylie was born and raised in St. John’s, NL. She completed several years of university before changing career paths and finding her true passion–dentistry.

Kylie quickly enrolled in the Dental Assistants program at Keyin College, and graduated with both Honours and as the recipient of the Dr. Robert Kavanagh Award for Clinical Excellence in 2013. During her education at Keyin College, Kylie came to Stavanger Dental for her first work term placement, and has been part of the team here ever since. Kylie is currently President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Dental Assistant’s Association, and has a strong passion for education within the dental community.

In her spare time, Kylie likes to spend time with her family and friends—especially her three-year-old son Owen, her husband Matthew, and their English setter Molly.

Hilary Crawford
Dental Assistant

Hilary graduated from Carbonear Collegiate in 2014 and, with enrollment in Keyin College’s Level II Dental Assisting program, immediately began preparing for her career.

As a motivated and enthusiastic contract employee, Hilary earned her place as a permanent member of the Stavanger Dental team in 2016. Hilary combines her industry knowledge and passion for learning new techniques and technologies in her quest to help patients achieve better oral health.

Aside from work, Hilary loves spending time in her childhood home of Carbonear with her family and friends. Hilary is an avid outdoors enthusiast, and also volunteers as Secretary for the Newfoundland and Labrador Dental Assistants Association.

Tiffany Brophy
Dental Assistant

Tiffany joined the Stavanger Dental team in April, 2017, immediately upon obtaining her Level II Dental Assisting Diploma from Keyin College. While at Keyin College, Tiffany also received the Academic Excellence Award as well as the Professionalism Award from the Newfoundland Dental Assistants Association.

Tiffany loves to learn new things and looks forward to continuing education opportunities to help further her knowledge in dental career.

In her spare time Tiffany enjoys being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Jacqueline Kerrivan
Dental Assistant

Jackie, a St. John’s native, graduated as a Level II Dental Assistant from Keyin College in 2006 and began her career at Stavanger Dental. Continuing her education, Jackie qualified as an Orthodontic assistant and shares her knowledge and experience with patients to promote good oral hygiene habits.

When not in the clinic, Jacqueline enjoys baking, hiking and spending time with her son Jack and partner Matthew—but most of the time you can find her on a baseball field or ice rink!

Rhonda Fudge-Keane
Treatment Coordinator

Rhonda is a graduate from the Toronto School of Business and joined the Stavanger Dental Team in 2013. With over 20 years of experience in the dental field, Rhonda takes great pride in her career and caring for patients. Rhonda lives in Torbay with her family and enjoys spending time in an endless variety of outdoor activities—especially campfires with her family and friends.

Donna Hobbs

As a 1985 graduate from Dalhousie University’s Dental Hygienist program, Donna was employed as a dental hygienist in her home province of PEI and—much to our delight—chose to relocate to Newfoundland shortly thereafter. By 2001, Donna had become a vital part of Dr. Gamba’s team, and has been delivering quality oral hygiene care to our patients ever since!

Donna loves to expand her knowledge and takes pride in educating and encouraging her patients to achieve a healthy and happy smile. Donna’s pledge to patient care and comfort is evidenced in her ongoing commitment to continuing education courses and her participation in the Dental Hygiene Study Club of Newfoundland. 

When not busy in the clinic, you will find Donna spending her time with her two beautiful daughters Rebecca and Alexandra, her partner Derrick.

Michelle Perry 

Michelle Perry, from Conception Bay South, is our part-time Hygienist here at Stavanger Dental. Michelle is also a member of the Newfoundland Labrador Dental Hygienist Association, and serves as co-chair of the Association’s Public Awareness Committee. Michelle strives to improve public awareness about the importance of correct daily brushing and flossing by educating her clients’ chair-side or through her various community service endeavours.


Michelle thinks a smile is the best accessory you could wear! Outside of the office, Michelle enjoys being a tourist in her own home and pursuing volunteering opportunities.

Kelly Bowering

Kelly originally from Dunville, Placentia Bay, moved to the St. John’s area and completed Level II Dental Assisting in 2004. Though avid on the clinical side of dentistry for over ten years as a chairside assistant, Kelly has been enjoying the bustling reception station at Stavanger Dental since March of 2016. As opportunities to practice as a Level II Assistant on occasion still crop up, Kelly enjoys keeping up with the advances in the dental field through continuing education opportunities. Currently residing in Goulds, Kelly enjoys spending her free time with her children Jack and Grace.
